A startup is a journey. Entrepreneurship is a process. Your work as a professional is a grind

You have two choices……………. treat it like fun and games or become an accountant……..staring at every entry in the account book with knitted brows. Both options may work or both may fail or…………………. To me, your journey is what you make it out to be. If you think it is fun, it’s fun. If you think it is serious stuff, it’s serious. One thing is for sure — you will face unknown hurdles along the way. You may wish to bang your head on the wall or take it in your stride.

A startup/ entrepreneurial life is for the creative, innovative people who are high octane live wires. Right? I see it differently. I don’t see why you should burn yourself out with such big sounding jargon. The simple fact of the matter is that a startup or entrepreneurship is another facet of work. You will be smart if you learn from mistakes ……made by others. Learning by failing is not my manta though I see many stalwarts claiming it to be the path to nirvana. Always look up to the rising Sun…………we will deal with it when the Sun sets, but not now.

In my articles, I will talk about some pitfalls which you are likely to face in your entrepreneurial journey. You are advised to reflect upon my articles and draw your own conclusions. What would be the point in talking about the journey if everyone was to follow the same path? Every journey is unique. Every path is filled with roses and thorns (Shakespeare anyone!). Take everything in your stride. Swallow your pride and listen to what I have to say. Seems like I am a hot air bag, haha.

I am ending with a story of Supanndi. For those unacquainted with him, Supanndi is a funny but ignoramus character portrayed in stories published by Amar Chitra Katha.

One day, Supanndi broke his leg. His leg was cast in plaster and people watched him climbing to his first floor flat using the water pipe connected to the wall of his building. All this while, his leg was cast in plaster.

After two weeks, he visited the doctor to remove the plaster. The doctor asked Supanndi whether he had been careful in not climbing the stairs during the past weeks. “Yes Doctor”, he replied. “I haven’t used the stairs at all. I have started using the water pipe to climb up to my flat”.

Entrepreneurs start using devious and unnecessary ways to go around a problem which has a straightforward solution. Being innovative does not mean finding hilarious ways to work around a problem. Some things have simple solutions.
